Eco Buildings
Eco Centre, Bishops Castle, Shropshire
Located at Bishops Castle Community College, GMC have now constructed two stand-alone ECO buildings on behalf of Shropshire Council. The units were constructed using the closed cassette Masonite Tradis system with an internal spine wall consisting of reclaimed facing bricks.
Externally the walls were partly rendered with Intercromex/Thermocromex 2 coat, self-coloured, lime render system whilst the remaining areas were faced with larch cladding. The roof was an aluminium Euroclad Euroseam, single skin, plain mill finish, stucco embossed, standing seam roofing system, complete with aluminium gutters and rainwater pipes.
Internally the domestic electrical installation was supplemented by photovoltaic roof mounted units, whilst the heating system was controlled by air to water and solar power roof mounted units. Natural slate flooring adorns the Classroom and Lobby areas and the internal walls and soffits have been plastered using a Fermacell wall board system.
In addition to the minor landscaping/surfacing works, we also created an “Open Air External Classroom” with soft tarmac (Rubber Crumb) flooring.
